Northern Colorado Open! -  Here are some PHOTOS and below are the results!

FCTA ran the Northern Colorado Open on May 29,30 and 31 at the Colorado State University Tennis Complex. This was the first year in many years that this tournament was managed by FCTA. Board President,  Scott Martin and Board Treasurer, Melanie Manning were co-directors. Thanks to Tom Tonoli, Kevin McCrary and Tonya Motley for volunteering.  A total of 92 players participated and we held 12 different events over the three day period. Most events were played in a flighted round robin format, so a lot of good competitive tennis was played in a fairly short period of time. The weather cooperated for the most part, except for rain on Friday afternoon/evening. Thanks to everyone who played in this event. Put this event on your tennis calendar for next year - it will be held the first weekend after Memorial Day.

Inaugural Sixth Grade Tennis Camp - a big success!!

Fort Collins Tennis Association (FCTA) with support from a Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation Grant, sponsored a one day 6th grade tennis camp at the Colorado State University Tennis Complex on Saturday May 16th. 65 sixth graders learned the basics of tennis and more from local Fort Collins area tennis professionals, Steve Schultz, Christian Muna, Tatyana Cropp and Nora Harrison. The sixth graders received 6 hours of instruction for a minimal $5 lunch fee. This program was partially funded through a grant that was applied for and granted to FCTA by Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation - USTA Colorado. The remaining funding came from FCTA. A special thanks to Jesse Rodriquez and Tom Tonoli, FCTA Board Members and the area middle school coaches for making this event happen. Also - thanks to the many high school players from who came out to volunteer that day - the kids loved working with you all. The feedback was very positive! We plan on doing it again next year !!
